Coca-Cola Retains Full Ownership Of Costa Coffee, But Is Reassessing Its Performance In China – CoffeeTalk
Coca-Cola Co. will continue to maintain full ownership of Costa Coffee, as confirmed by Chief Financial Officer John Murphy. Although the beverage company had contemplated potential bids for the UK cafe chain, which it acquired for approximately $5 billion in 2018, it is now focused on improving Costa’s performance rather than divesting its ownership. Murphy highlighted that while certain core markets are performing well, the business in China has presented unexpected challenges. He emphasized that there are currently no intentions for Costa to exit the Chinese market, although the company will continue to closely evaluate its performance in China throughout 2026.
