Indonesia Aims To Empower Coffee Farmers In Primary Robusta Growing Region – CoffeeTalk
The Lampung Agricultural Assembly and Modernization Center (BRMP) has chosen Tanggamus District as the main focus for implementing the Integrated Corporation of Agricultural Resources Empowerment (ICARE) program this year. The program aims to enhance the empowerment of coffee farmers in Lampung Province, focusing on the area, which is also a hub for goat farming. The ICARE program, which will run until 2027, aims to increase the independence and empowerment of coffee farmers, enabling them to gain greater business profits and added value from integrating coffee farming with goat farming. This will be achieved through strengthening farm institutions, such as farm corporations, and supporting area management and agricultural commodity value chains in a sustainable and inclusive manner. ICARE is part of the priority agricultural development agenda outlined in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan, focusing on improving food security and increasing the added value of agricultural products. Lampung Province holds significant potential as the second-largest robusta coffee producer in Indonesia, with coffee plantations covering 156,268 hectares and producing 118,139 tons of coffee as of 2022.
