Following regionals heats across Australia and New Zealand, Allpress and HARIO crowned a new ANZ V60 Champion in Melbourne on 31 July.

The Allpress x HARIO V60 Championship ANZ final was held at Allpress’ venue in Collingwood, Victoria, and saw the regional winners battle it out to win a flight to Tokyo and a place in the HARIO V60 Brewers Cup in September.

In the heated final, Joon Suk Kim took the top spot, winning the Championship just hours after securing first place in the Melbourne regional heats. Brisbane heat winner Hiroto Sasaki took overall second place and Sydney heat champ Jay Yu came in third.

“It was a rare and electric double-win that unfolded, with the Melbourne crowd rallying behind one of their own. Joon’s performance was marked by calm precision, thoughtful technique, and a deep understanding of the brew, a fitting finale to a night that celebrated both local talent and regional unity,” say the Allpress team.

All competitors used a limited-edition Gesha from Finca Patio Bonito in Caldono, Cauca, Colombia, which was grown at 1,700 metres-above-sea-level by Carlos and Paola Trujillo. Their family farm, nestled in the Colombian highlands, is home to just 9 hectares of coffee and 13 unique varietals.

The beans were sourced through Allpress’ long-standing relationship with Café Imports, which also supported the Championships series by sponsoring the competition coffee across all regional heats. The coffee is now available to purchase from the Allpress website.
