Final preparations underway for CafeSmart 2025 – BeanScene
The 2025 edition of CafeSmart kicks off on Saturday 2 August for its 15th campaign of using hospitality as a vehicle to tackle homelessness.
The campaign, which will run between 2 and 8 August, will involve more than 800 cafés Australia-wide. For one day, each venue will donate $1 for every coffee sold to not-for-profit StreetSmart, with much of the funding being put back into improving homelessness outcomes in their local areas.
Since 2011, CafeSmart has raised more than $2.2 million and supported close to 1500 community grants.
CafeSmart’s main donation day is on Friday 8 August, with an interactive map showing which cafés are taking part right across Australia.
“Fundraising isn’t an easy gig, you need people to jump on board and be your cheerleaders, it’s a team sport,” says StreetSmart Founder Adam Robinson.
“Luckily, along the way CafeSmart has had plenty of champions and many have been with us for 15 years … in total more than 3300 cafés and roasters have played their part.”
CafeSmart takes place during Homelessness Week each year, and remains not only an important cause to rally around for Australia’s café community, but is only increasing in need with Specialist Homelessness Services reporting close to 300,000 who sought help in 2024.
