New Hotel Concept Puts Coffee Culture & History Front And Center – CoffeeTalk
HOTEL DRIP&DROP, located in Myeongdong, Seoul, is a modern hospitality concept that combines clean-lined design with the curated comforts of a local café. Developed by LOG Hotel Group Co., Ltd., the hotel offers a minimalist coffee shop theme interior with two coffee machines on a wooden table, a neon sign reading “DRIP & DROP” behind the coffee machines, and a dark wooden counter and wall shelves. The hotel’s name translates to “drip” into Seoul’s rich cultural fabric and “drop” their travel fatigue in a space designed for recharging.
The 7th-floor communal lounge functions as a curated “coffee zone,” showcasing a rotating selection of the city’s most celebrated roasters. The hotel’s signature blend, developed with 2022 KCRC roasting champion Min-ho Kim, is brewed fresh daily, acting as both a morning pick-me-up and a nod to Seoul’s café boom.
The hotel also features a merchandise and coffee display counter with branded gear, paper cups, utensils, brochures, coffee bags, and a coffee dispenser against a light wooden display wall. Shelves display coffee bags, tote bags, mugs, and informational cards under a sign labeled “Drip&Drop Curation” at HOTEL DRIP&DROP.
The HOTEL DRIP&DROP is a minimalist hotel that offers quiet functionality and thoughtful comfort, balancing minimalist aesthetics with intentional spatial design. It features 13 tranquil rooms and 52 cleverly designed capsule beds, catering to solo adventurers and small groups alike. Private rooms are compact but carefully considered, outfitted with everything needed for a solid night’s rest. The gender-separated capsule section follows suit – simple, secure, and surprisingly cozy. All units prioritize tranquility over tech, offering a true media break during your visit.
The hotel offers various types of rooms, including modern rooms featuring a built-in wooden loft bed, a white bed below, large windows, and a sink with a round mirror above in the foreground. A modern, compact bedroom with wooden walls, a white double bed, a small round table, a loft bed above, and hangers on an open rack. A picture of a cartoon man pouring coffee hangs on the wall to the left.
Every capsule and suite-style room includes a personal coffee dripper set, encouraging guests to slow down and brew their own cup before the day’s exploration begins. A small wooden room features a bed, a round stool, a shelf with a white container, a black electric kettle, and a safe at the foot of the bed. A narrow wooden staircase with black handrails leads to an upper bunk in a compact HOTEL DRIP&DROP room with light wood paneling and floor-to-ceiling curtains.
Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly positioned to explore Myeongdong’s fashion-forward scene, the retro-industrial cool of Euljiro, and the serenity of Cheonggyecheon Stream, all of which are within walking distance. The hotel also features a modern public restroom for guests with capsule reservations, a modern hotel shower with a rainfall showerhead and glass door, and a modern hotel suite with wood-paneled walls, a dining table for four, large window, partial bedroom view, and framed coffee-themed art on the wall.
The hotel’s unique coffee-centric concept, featuring a curated lounge with Seoul’s top roasters and in-room coffee drippers, offers an immersive, sensory introduction to South Korea’s vibrant coffee culture.
