China’s leading coffee chain, Luckin Coffee, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brazil’s Trade and Investment Promotion Agency. The agreement will expand Luckin Coffee’s initial deal to purchase 120,000 tons of Brazilian coffee beans over two years, bringing the total procurement to 240,000 tons from 2025 and 2029, valued at 10 billion RMB. This marks the largest coffee bean procurement plan in Luckin Coffee’s history.

Luckin Coffee, as China’s largest coffee chain, has become a major importer of Brazilian coffee beans in the Chinese market, deepening its economic and cultural ties with Brazilian partners. In 2022, the company announced plans to import approximately 45,000 tons of Brazilian coffee beans over the next three years. In June, Luckin Coffee signed a letter of intent to purchase 120,000 tons of Brazilian coffee beans over the next two years.

Luckin Coffee has also collaborated with the Brazilian Embassy to launch the Luckin Brazil Coffee Culture Festival, hosting professional tasting salons featuring World Barista Championship winners. The company has also completed the Brazil leg of its “Odyssey to the God Shot (Global Bean Search Journey)” and inaugurated its first Brazil-themed coffee store and the Luckin Brazilian Coffee Museum.

Luckin Coffee has established key initiatives in Brazil, including the Luckin Brazil Office, the Luckin Brazil Grower Support Center, and the Luckin Coffee High-Quality Coffee Plantation. These strategic moves will enhance Luckin Coffee’s quality control capabilities and support its efforts to explore and implement sustainable coffee certification standards.
