Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe opening soon in former Brewed spot on Brady Street
After 14 years on Brady Street, the beloved Brewed Cafe closed its doors in 2021, but the location will not remain vacant for long.
In the coming months, Brazilian native Marcia Joy plans to open Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe at 1208 E. Brady St. Joy informs the Milwaukee Record that her coffee shop will serve both Brazilian and American coffee, as well as Brazilian and American breakfast foods. In addition to blueberry muffins, cookies, and brownies, the menu will feature po de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) and ham and cheese sandwiches.
Joy says, “I don’t want people to think it will only serve Brazilian food and coffee.” “We will also have an abundance of American food and coffee here. It will be a more international location. We wish to welcome all guests.”
Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., are anticipated to be the business hours for Sweet Joy.
Joy says, “People can grab and go or stay and enjoy.”
Joy moved to Germany as a young adult after leaving Brazil. She started making her own brigadeiro, a traditional Brazilian chocolate dessert, there. In 2016, she opened Sweet Joy Brigadeiro in Wisconsin and began selling her desserts at local restaurants and farmers markets. Joy’s business was “asleep” during the pandemic, but she remained busy as a pastry chef and personal chef. The Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe is a revival of her previous business.
