Suspect Climbs Into Starbucks Ceiling in Vancouver, Floods Coffee Shop


A man was arrested after locking himself in a Starbucks bathroom and climbing into the ceiling. Despite over half an hour of negotiations, the man entered the Starbucks ceiling and stepped through ceiling tiles. He then entered the Great Clips next to Starbucks through the adjoining ceiling. Despite attempts to inform him he was under arrest, he refused. A pepper-ball was deployed to get him to surrender, but he continued to refuse, damaging the sprinkler system and flooding the coffee shop. A second pepper-ball was deployed, leading to his surrender. Both Starbucks and Great Clips were forced to close due to damage. The suspect is not yet identified, but he was booked on multiple counts of felony Malicious Mischief, Criminal Trespass, and Resisting Arrest.
