She Was A Regular At A Struggling Coffee Shop. Then She Bought It, And 4X The Annual Revenue To $1.8 Million. – CoffeeTalk
Kristen Williams-Haseotes, a former home for ex-offenders and bank employee, bought a struggling Bad Ass Coffee location in Naples, Florida, and transformed it into the brand’s top-performing location. The coffee shop, which had a revenue of only $430,000 a year, was struggling due to its lack of community and potential. Williams-Haseotes promoted from within, hiring new staff members and identifying outsize potential. She made a significant difference by making a barista, Daniel Guimond, a manager, and promoting him.
Haseotes also saw the bigger opportunity to expand into the adjacent space, which made little financial sense due to parking and zoning issues. Instead, she focused on community and the potential for music, lectures, and more. She also always fostered connections by offering free coffee to customers outside and to first responders after a hurricane.
Haseotes’ approach to coffee was not about selling coffee, but about providing a sense of community and giving back to the community. She paid her staff and donated the tip cup money to charity, demonstrating the power of community in the coffee industry.
