The cost of coffee in Las Vegas has increased by 21% since the start of the pandemic, according to data from UNLV’s Lee Business School. The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers: Coffee in U.S. city average statistics from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis shows that the price of a cup of coffee started to rise dramatically in July 2021. In comparison, the price of a cup of coffee actually dropped from 2014 to 2021.
The median listing price for a home in Clark County has also increased by 52% since January 2019, pushing many potential homebuyers out of the starter home market. Grocery prices have also risen exponentially since the start of the pandemic, with eggs rising by 54% and other items like milk, soda, and rice also rising. Gasoline prices have also gone up by 35%.
Car insurance premiums have risen 50% in Nevada, ranking No. 4 in the country due to relaxed alcohol laws and high partygoers. Medical care costs have increased 18% since the start of the pandemic, forcing many low-income residents to choose between paying energy bills and essentials like food and medicine. The average price of a movie, theater, and concert ticket has also gone up by 22% in Clark County.
