Bad Ass Coffee signs its largest development agreement to date
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has signed a development agreement for 20 units along the Florida Gulf Coast, the brand’s largest expansion deal to date.
Due to consumer familiarity with its seven stores in Florida, the company views the state as one of its strongest regional markets as it seeks to expand from 30 to 180 stores across the United States over the next five years.
The 20 new locations will be opened in conjunction with new franchise partner Marquee Coffee LLC, a group of local business partners formed specifically to expand Bad Ass Coffee in Florida.
Beginning in 2023, Marquee Coffee LLC intends to open a total of 20 stores by 2030.
“For twenty years, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has enjoyed resounding success in Florida and has amassed a devoted following of local regulars and seasonal residents/vacationers. According to Scott Snyder, CEO of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, “our brand experience and messaging are consistent with the Florida market.”
Bad Ass Coffee has opened five new locations thus far in 2022 and anticipates opening five more by the end of the year. Additionally, the company has 13 locations under construction and 79 units sold.
The company, which was founded in 1989 on the Big Island of Hawaii, reported a 66% increase in average unit volume for the first half of the year compared to 2021.
