The Specialty Coffee Association of Panama (SCAP) has announced that about 16 coffee enthusiasts will have the opportunity to taste the world’s most expensive coffee, Esmeralda Geisha, at a special tasting session in Singapore. The coffee, originating from the Gesha village in Ethiopia, has been awarded 94.1 out of 100 points during an auction in August for its distinctive and unrivalled cup profile. The coffee, which was cultivated in the mountainous region of Boquete, earned a price of over S$80,000 for 100 pounds. The Coffee Academics will present the Esmeralda Geisha coffee during a workshop at its outlet at Scotts Square shopping centre, with tickets priced at $128 each. The workshop is limited to 16 seats and will be prepared according to the brewing method of the attendees. If coffee processed through animals’ digestive systems were included in the ranking, the most expensive coffee would be the “elephant poop” coffee, which fetches an eye-watering price of US$2000 per kilogram.
