What is Sidra coffee?

World Coffee Championship (WCC) routines have increasingly incorporated rare coffee species and arabica varieties in recent years. Although the highly-prized Gesha variety has been a longtime favorite of many competitors, an increasing number of them are now opting for lesser-known coffees.

Sidra is one of these coffees (also known as Sydra or Bourbon Sidra). While the variety is not particularly well-known, it is gaining popularity at WCC events and was used by the 2019 World Barista Champion Jooyeon Jeon and the 2022 World Barista Champion Anthony Douglas in their winning routines.
