Indian Coffee Board Launches Community Initiative To Enhance Crop Quality – CoffeeTalk

The Indian Coffee Board has launched a plan to improve the quality of coffee grown in different zones by establishing community farmer groups at the 4-Hobli level. The aim is to enable coffee growers to maintain quality and secure better prices in the international market. A community group of 100 growers has been established in every hobli to collect and report on coffee grown. Experts from the coffee board will provide guidance if needed. The board plans to offer a two-year diploma program to encourage younger generations to engage in coffee cultivation. To address the shortage of trained personnel for plantation management, the board plans to train supervisors and managers, providing them with employment opportunities in coffee plantations. The board also plans to offer training for cafe baristas and interested individuals to ensure high-quality, tasty coffee for visitors and tourists. The board emphasizes the need for coffee growers to mechanize at least 60% of their plantations due to labor issues.
