Registrations open for Sensory Summit in Switzerland
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has announced tickets are now available for a second Sensory Summit in Zurich, Switzerland.
This follows the success of the most recent Sensory Summit event at UC Davis in California, United States.
The Sensory Summit will take place from 5 to 6 September in Zurich at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).
According to SCA, the Sensory Summit is the only event in coffee dedicated to sensory science and research for sensory professionals, designed to educate, inform, and inspire the sensory professional.
Centred around the Coffee Excellence Center at ZHAW, participants will learn about incorporating techniques of sensory science into the coffee taster’s repertoire, the latest reports about ongoing coffee extraction and consumer research and using new tools to sharpen tasting acuity and repeatability.
The summit will also talk about how to improve coffee quality and consistency using establish sensory methods, and incorporate learnings from wine, beer, and food science into specialty coffee.
Instructors include industry-leading specialty coffee professionals and academic researchers from Zurich and elsewhere, lending both applied knowledge and academic rigor to the sessions.
Delivered over two days of intensive seminars and workshops, attendees can expect valuable information and direct sensory experience including tasting, smelling, and sensory demonstration in every session.
Tickets are priced at €850 (about US$912) for SCA members and €950 (about US$1020) for non-SCA members. The price includes all sensory talks and experiences and supplies for all experiences.
Tickets are limited and high demand. Attendees can save €100 (about US$107) by purchasing an early bird ticket before 5 August.
