World leading coffee maker encourages passion for sustainability

People associate Moccona coffee with the iconic glass jars and their ability to be repurposed and transformed into beautiful display pieces for the home.

Since 1753, the leading premium instant coffee brand has been renowned not only for its high-quality product, but also for its commitment to preserving our increasingly fragile environment.

The company’s goal is to make all of its packaging 100 percent recyclable, compostable, or reusable, and it is well on its way to achieving this goal with jars that contain more than 50 percent recycled glass.

Since 2012, the company has released several limited design collections, including a collaboration with renowned designer Peter Alexander, which have inspired this upcycling movement.

This year, Moccona gave young creatives the opportunity to design the jars and encourage people to take small steps toward a more sustainable world.

On 2 million jars, the voices of these up-and-coming designers from two schools in Australia and New Zealand will be heard around the world.

Six concepts by young artists were chosen from more than sixty submissions, including three winners from New Zealand who are justifiably proud of their success and truly outstanding designs.

Georgia Billman, who resides in Clevedon, is an accomplished designer whose ‘Small Actions’-inspired design won the judges’ admiration.
