Uganda Secures Key Export Agreement With Sucafina At World Of Coffee Geneva – CoffeeTalk
Uganda has signed a key export agreement with European giant Sucafina, marking a significant boost for the country’s coffee industry at the World of Coffee 2025 exhibition in Geneva. The agreement, unveiled at Uganda’s pavilion, includes commitments to increase green bean shipments and expand joint marketing efforts across Europe. The deal comes amid record performance by Uganda’s coffee sector, which exported 7.17 million bags worth $1.97 billion in the past year. Uganda’s State Minister for Agriculture, Fred Kyakulaga, praised the partnership as a milestone in redefining East Africa’s coffee narrative. European buyers praised Uganda’s high-altitude Arabica for its vibrant acidity and clean finish. The positive reception has translated into solid commercial interest, with some companies requesting Uganda to supply up to 300 shipping containers of green beans annually, especially from Swiss and other European roasters. The deal is a strategic gateway for Uganda to consolidate its presence in the competitive specialty coffee market in Europe. Coffee exporters at the event echoed calls for Uganda to maintain quality and consistency to meet growing demand. Buyers also encouraged Ugandan producers to invest further in traceability and branding to capitalize on premium pricing in European markets.
