The coffee and tea festival returns to the expo center

All Java enthusiasts are invited! (And not just those who live on the same-named Greenpoint street!)

The Brooklyn Expo Center (72 Noble St.) in Greenpoint will host the 15th Annual Coffee and Tea Festival. The festival will take place over two days on Saturday, February 19, and Sunday, February 20.

At the moment, 37 coffee and tea companies are exhibiting, including some well-known brands such as Sail Away and Green Mountain, as well as numerous up-and-coming boutique coffee and tea companies.

Three seminars have been scheduled so far at the Coffee and Tea Festival to educate enthusiasts about two of the world’s most popular beverages.

On Saturday and Sunday, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., Chinonso Okehie, founder of Chixotic, will host The Natural Wonders of Kenyan Purple Leaf Tea. Okehie will delve into the history and origins of Kenyan Purple Leaf Tea, which is renowned for its health benefits.

Another seminar, Nepal Tea – The Tea Industry’s Best Kept Secret, will be held Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nischal Banskota, the founder of Nepal Tea, will discuss the history and characteristics of Nepal Teas.

On Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Tu Nguyen, the founder of Vietnam Ca-phe Project, will host a special seminar called Vietnamese Coffee Tasting and Brewing Workshop for an additional $25. It includes an interactive demonstration of how to make Vietnamese coffee, a sample box of three different coffee varieties, and a traditional coffee filter.

Additionally, Cold Weather Company, an independent folk band from New Jersey, will perform live at the festival.

Three distinct ticket types are available. A VIP Admission costs $35 and allows entry Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., which is two hours earlier than regular admission. General Admission is $25 and permits entry Saturday noon – 5 p.m. and Sunday noon – 4 p.m. Finally, a Rush Admission ticket is available. It costs $10 and allow entry only on Saturday 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Children aged 12 and under are admitted free to the festival.
