Coffee consumption hits two-decade high – Spring 2022 National Coffee Data Trends report
NEW YORK, March 15, 2022 — According to exclusive consumer polling released this morning (Tuesday) by the National Coffee Association, coffee consumption has risen to a two-decade high as Americans develop new post-COVID routines (NCA).
66 percent of Americans now drink coffee daily, more than any other beverage except tap water, and has increased by nearly 14 percent since January 2021, the largest increase since NCA began tracking data.
According to the NCA’s Spring 2022 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) report, Americans have increased their coffee consumption away from home by 8% since January 2021.
Coffee consumption at home has remained above pre-pandemic levels. 84 percent of coffee drinkers now consume coffee at home, up from 80 percent in January 2020.
Consumption of espresso-based beverages, which are typically prepared away from home, has increased 30% since the pandemic began, indicating both recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and new growth.
