Cana has announced the Cana One, a ‘printer for molecular beverages.’ Cana claims that the Cana One can produce thousands of beverages on demand, including juice, soft drinks, iced coffee, hard seltzer, wine, and cocktails.

Microfluidic liquid dispensing technology is used in the Cana One. The device uses a single ingredient cartridge to create hundreds of drinks and has a battery life of approximately a month. The cartridge is comprised of a collection of trace compounds that impart flavour to a wide variety of beverages.

You can adjust the amount of sugar, caffeine, and alcohol in your drinks, as well as the portion size and even add vitamins or supplements. Additionally, you can use a PIN code to secure some refreshments on the device, such as caffeinated and alcoholic beverages.

Cana asserts that this is a sustainable device because it eliminates waste plastic, aluminium, and glass containers used to package the drinks. Additionally, the company states that mass producing beverages is a carbon-intensive process that the Cana One eliminates.

The Cana One will retail for US$799 (€730), with an introductory price of US$499 (€456) for the first 10,000 customers who pre-order. The cartridge will be free; however, each drink will cost between US$0.29 and US$2.99 (€0.26 to €2.73). Cana anticipates shipping the device to customers in the United States in early 2023. It is unknown whether or not the Cana One will be available outside of the United States.
