14.11.2022 /PRNewswire/ TRIESTE, Italy — Using art to communicate the values underlying coffee production and coffee-growing countries: this is the objective of the project sponsored by illycaffè, which commissioned nine internationally renowned artists to design a poster for each of the nine finalists in the seventh Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award.

The nine finalists for this year’s Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award are Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, and Rwanda. The award is named for the visionary leader of illycaffè – the son of the company’s founder and a pioneer in virtuous collaboration with farmers to produce high-quality, sustainable coffee. Each country will serve as a stop along an artistic journey in which nine artists have created posters that represent the color palette and coffee aromas of each country.

Gio Pastori, the Milanese artist renowned for his vivacious collages brimming with unbridled joy for life, will paint a portrait of Brazil, while the pastel tones of the English illustrator Miles Tewson will depict Costa Rica. El Salvador is represented by the joyful touch of Odile Ferraille of Nantes, while the enchanting landscapes of Ethiopia are brought to life by the restricted and carefully chosen color palette of the French illustrator Beya Reba. Victoria Semykina’s dreamscapes depict Guatemala, while the French duo Sacrée Frangine, comprised of Célia Amroune and Aline Kpade, created a minimalistic, dreamlike image of Honduras and its caramel-scented coffee.

French motion designer Manon Louart’s brilliant crimson hues pay homage to the allure of India through a meditative and calming atmosphere. Nicaragua is depicted with vivid color and images by Petra Eriksson, a Stockholm-born illustrator based in Barcelona. Finally, the intuitive touch of London-based artist Maria-Ines Gul enables us to discover Rwanda, the heart of Africa. Beginning on November 14, the nine artists’ posters depicting the essence of the nine finalists of the Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award 2022 will be unveiled on the Instagram accounts of their respective artists and on illycaffè’s social media, showcasing how different atmospheres, cultures, and flavors can be celebrated through art and beauty.
