New Mexico Piñon Coffee has recalled its Dark Piñon single-serve Keurig cups due to a defect that can cause ink to bleed during brewing. The company initiated a voluntary recall of 154 units of the Dark Pinon Single Serve Keurig cups last month. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration labeled the incident a Class III recall, meaning exposure is unlikely to cause adverse health consequences. The recalled coffee pods were sold as part of a 10-count pack, part of lot code “251749” and printed with a “Best Buy Date” of “05/08/2026.” New Mexico Pinon Coffee sells its products nationwide at major retailers such as Walmart, Costco, and Kroger stores.

The FDA recall notice states that the “clear coat seal” was not equally applied to all single-serve coffee pod lids, causing food-safe ink printed onto the affected cups to run when exposed to high temperature, high-pressure water used in a K-cup machine. Consumers who have purchased the item should throw it away or return it to the original retailer for a refund. Those with questions can contact New Mexico Pinon Coffee at 505-298-1964.
